For all you android using filmmakers out there...

SL DigiSlate - Android app on AppBrain

I saw this while perusing the market looking for filmmaking apps...has anyone used this? I know I could use something like this, I just wanted to know if it's worthwhile before I check it out...

Not bad for $9.99 considering a Digital slate can be a lot of $$$...I just wish I could connect the HDMI from the Evo to the camera to regulate the time code and also be able to sync with a shot list and generate a continuity report would be cool...any thoughts?

And while we are on the subject, are there any other worthwhile filmmaking apps out there?

nice! im a Steadicam Operator and i just downloaded this for myself wen im doing favors for friends..

i had a Denecke TS3-EL Time Code Smart slate. cost me 1800 dollars... it was stolen on a music video shoot in NYC at the SOHO. i had a CUSTOM Panavision Pelican case for it... no one knew what happened and the insurance deductible for the production was more than the cost of that slate.. ooh man did that hurt.. but you live and learn....

anyway , apologies for digressing. thanks for pointing this app out and for starting the thread.... ill definitely try and get it some use at some point...

Yeah, those Denecke Time slate's are expensive...this should do the basics for those who need a slate to mark the start and end of scenes, but as far as keeping accurate time code, not so much...I'd like to see if the HDMI has the ability to sync code...now that would be cool

I wrote the app at the request of a user of my other Android app. I've used it myself on a Disney project I worked on in New Zealand. In fact, after using it, I added a couple new features I discovered that it needed. The new version 2.0 has a shot log that people using this app have been asking for. I hope everyone finds it useful.

hey thanks for posting about it. it really is a functional little thing and with the screen size of the evo it can actually be a legit way to slate...
