For those that have been having 3.5 jack/speaker issues as I have, this is what I have noticed/figured out.
The issues I have been having, as well as hearing from other posters, is that the music volume severely drops (or in my case completely drops) when the next song comes up either manually or automatically. It happens to me when I skip ahead in a song as well from time to time.
It happens either with the jack or the speaker...but it only happens with Google music and not any other music app (the native one, power amp, pandora is what i have tried). Another thing is that it only happens to downloaded music on my phone or "pinned" music from google music. It never happens streaming music on google music.
Just some things I thought I would point out and see if people are noticing the same thing. As far as what I am seeing...it seems it is more of a google music bug with the GN3 rather than hardware on the GN3.
