Audio not synced to video, but only after navigating

I am having a weird problem with some video files and not others. I listen to and watch a lot of podcasts, and I just today had a problem where the audio was out of sync with the video, but only after navigating to different part of the video. When I start the video from the beginning, it is fine, and if I pause it and resume it, it is fine, but if I skip to a different section of the video, when it resumes, the audio is slightly off. This is slightly different from the other threads I've been reading about videos recorded with the X, or videos ripped from DVDs. I thought maybe it had to do with the type of file it was since not all of the videos do it, but I have one .mp4 that has this issue, and one that doesn't. It also happens when using the native video player or MixZing (which I use to avoid the native music players problems since 2.2). Anybody have any information or a workaround? Thanks a lot.

Are you taking about viewing the video on the phone or computer? Does it happen on both?

When you have problems with audio sync, it usually involves a video that a frame rate conversion was done to. There really isnt much you can do, except convert it to a different codec, which of course will lose quality.

I'm talking about watching video on my Droid X. This issue DOES NOT happen on my PC. The weirdest thing is that if I start the video on my phone, and just watch it without skipping around to different parts of the video, it's fine, but if, for example, I want to skip ahead because I have already seen the first 10 minutes, then the audio gets messed up.

Sounds like exactly what I said. The framerate was converted at some point. Most pc players will get around that, but some wont. The way to fix it is to try a different codec to play it with. However, you cant change codecs on the phone. So you're pretty much out of luck unless you want to convert it to a different format.

What makes it ok if I start it from the beginning, but mess up if I try to navigate?

Because when you try to navigate, the software is looking for a specific time code, not frame. So when the frames per second dont match what the video really is, it throws the software off when you navigate.
