Help Audio Playback Pauses Intermittently

While playing various audio through my phone, the playback pauses on it's own at random times. It happens with various applications and different media types. For example:
- iHeart Radio while streaming.
- Google Play Music while streaming or playing downloaded music.
- Smart Audiobook Player playing local .mp3 audiobook files.

To be clear this is isn't buffering, the playback pauses, when I hit play it starts right up. Doesn't matter if I'm using Bluetooth or headphones. Phone is Galaxy S5, SM-G900V on Verizon, Android 5.0, Kernel version 3.4.0. Seems to have started, or at least gotten much worse after the Lollipop upgrade.

Any ideas?

Just found this. I am suffering from the same bluettoth playback pausing bug as you, on my Galaxy Note 4 (5.0.1, everything official). At first, I suspected my Plantronics Backbeat Fit bluetooth headphones, but when I ordered an extra pair, same problem. Tried turning WiFi off; still no joy. I then suspected Google Play Music, but it has since happened to me on two radio apps as well. Definitely appears to be a Samsung/Android issue. Sure hope it gets fixed, if only accidentally while they update the OS.

If you happen upon a fix please let me know. As you can see other than you there have been no responses to my post. I'm still having the problem, sometimes it pauses 10 - 15 seconds apart, sometime it'll go 10 - 15 minutes.

Sure will, but I'm afraid there'll be no cigar until Android 5.1. Using my old iPhone for music via Bluetooth now. Ridiculous

Hey - found a fix!!! Just follow these instructions:
Works like a charm for me!

Doesn't seem to work for my Galaxy S5 with Lollipop 5.0, although playback seems to pause less often. Thanks for the update.

Hi and sorry to hear it didn't work for you. I wonder whether you did it quite right - first turning off bluetooth and then pressing "CLEAR DATA" (I pressed CLEAR CACHE before, as well) in both "Bluetooth" as well as "Buetooth Test". Perhaps repeat the procedure. I did it twice too. Seems strange that it would work perfectly for me and only partly for you.
Good luck -

I tried it three times, pausing the video as I went along to make sure I followed the the instructions carefully. It still pauses audio playback randomly. Oh well, I'll keep looking. Thanks for the help.

Sorry to hear that. FYI, if you did it correctly, you should notice any and all bluetooth devices gone (unpaired) under Bluetooth, after which you then have to re-pair.
Good luck in any case -
