Audio quality with BT headphones

I am currently using the JBL E50Bt headphones with my Note 5 and they sound really bad.They sound extremely underpowered.I have the volume all the way up and it isn't even close to being too loud to listen to they just seem like they would if you were listening at a normal volume level.

Under the KISS principle, is the volume up on the phone and the headset? My current set has separate volume settings.

Do you have another device, that the headphones can be paired with?

My Sony Bluetooth ear buds and bluetooth over ear headphones work fine. Try plugging in headphones directly and see if you get different result.

There are Bluetooth headphones with built-in audio amplifiers/DACs now.
