I'm trying to see if there's an update to my firmware, and I try it but it says authentication error. My LG Tribute is unactived, I currently do not have a plan chosen. I have had this phone for about a year, and I haven't tried updating it until now. I can update the software. It won't work either for update for profile, uicc, or prl.

Your phone has to be active on Virgin Mobile before updating the profile, uicc or prl. Otherwise, it's just another wifi device.
