Does anybody know where to look when I experience the following: every time I switch off auto brightness it get's turned on again after some time (minutes).

Auto brightness on Mate 10 Pro get automatically switched on

That should not happen, and quite frankly sounds like a possible firmware bug with the EMUI OS that Huawei devices use. Of course the Mate 10 Pro has only been out a couple of months, and so there may well still be bugs in it. See if there's any OTA updates available, if not might be worth you contacting Huawei tech support and reporting the problem.
