Auto-Brightness vs Manual setting - What do you use?

For anyone having done any extensive comparisons - what have you concluded? Better battery life with auto-brightness ON, or with setting the brightness manually to something <20% ?

If you do set manual brightness, share approx what % of full brightness your are using.

.

my brightness is like right at 20%. i had it on auto but switched because it would always go bright then dim when i was using it and i got annoyed. battery's pretty good for me after a day's use i still have like 50ish% of the battery left but that's probly because im only using 2g data on att and i have 3g turned off.

AUTO:

I keep my N1 plugged most of the time which allows me to leave things running. I have a dock at home, a car charger and then a AC charger at work. If traveling I have the USB cord and a AC. So for me auto works, but if I was taking a hike or something, then I would set things up manually.

I always set it manually with the powerbar because the auto brightness really sucks on this phone LOL. I use the middle setting inside and the highest setting outside.

I have to agree, the auto adjustment really does suck on this phone. Like Martin's, mine would fluctuate while using it which was extremely annoying. It would also dim to a minimum while outdoors to the point that I couldn't read the display.

With that being said, I have mine set around 25% and leave it there.

i use mine at 13% most of the time. it's good for indoors and in places like subway cars and platforms or inside stores. my battery life is still suspect.

brightness profiles is a great app - when i go outdoors in direct sunlight i tap it and pick a 90% setting, if its not direct sunlight but outdoors ill just tap the 50% one.

Because with this phone the brightness goes up and down like crazy. If anything, the Power Bar is great, dim, medium, and brightest is all you'll ever need. Plus, with the Power Bar you get all your multivitamins and nutrients.
