Help Auto Data on/off apps?

Murf1

Android Enthusiast
This is on a NON-rooted phone.

On KitKat, I used an app that turns on the 3G/4G data for 1 minute and then shuts it off for 15 minutes (cycle).

It seems with every Android update they feel the need to remove some functionality (I suppose as a penalty for the new stuff they add - no good deed goes unpunished), until they realize it was a mistake and add it back in the next release (apparently no one asks users what they would like).

The app I used (and the others like it) say that 3rd party apps on lollipop are no longer allowed by the OS to turn the data connection on/off. So the app no longer works. Thanks Google!

Does anyone know if there is anything built into lollipop to automatically turn the data connection on/off by some parameter?

thanks

Pull down your notifycation bar. On the toggles slide all the way to the right side till you see the edit toggle. Tap the edit toggle, when the choice screen appears tick "data enable" . I then move mine to the top of the list so it is the first toggle when I open the notifycation screen. You can rearrange them how you would like your toggles displayed. Done. Now you can control your devices as you choose.
Its not automatic but at least its easier to control without having to goto settings.
Cheers
