Auto Detection of FingerPrints type

Hi everyone,

Actually this post is more related to fingerprints type rather than being related to Android.
I have a raw fingerprint image. It maybe of my left index, left middle or just any finger. The scenario is that I am using C++ and I don't have any idea regarding the type(left or right) and index(index or middle or ...) of the fingerprint image that i have got.

Is there any way i can know regarding this from the raw image? I would really be grateful if someone can provide any valuable links or code regarding this.

If you can't figure it out with the mark one eyeball, how is a computer going to tell? I don't even know what the algorithm would look like.

I really doubt you can tell what finger it's from just from a single print. You need some other point of reference to tell what finger it's from.
