Auto Focus HTC Desire HD Look blurred

So when I try and take images which are fairly close up my phone does this auto focus where for a second or so it adjusts and you can see the good quality of the image but then when it takes the image it looks quite blurred compared to how it looked when it was trying to focus.

Am I doing something wrong? How can I do good/okay pictures of close up objects? Is they was way where when it focues and looks crisp can I take the picture then?

Phones dont have macro focus, i.e. you wont be able to focus on anything closer than say 4 inches.
