Is it possible to auto hide the bar or set the opacity so that it's see through along the lines of a gnome panel? I have seen a couple of things along the way but all I have found is, 'the phone has to be rooted' and nothing else. Any ideas or thoughts?
Some programs will go into full screen mode. So yes, at some point it is possible to hide the notification bar. However, if you are asking about the home screen and hiding the bar:
Your phone has to be rooted. Or find a home replacement that will do it.
