Auto rotate in google maps

Not sure if this is the right section to ask but,

is there a way to turn on auto rotate in google maps ?

As an example, if i lay down the phone and point it north, the map should point nort. But if i would to rotate the phone, the map should be facing the same direction.

You mean the compass function, as in the 3GS. No, it's not there. Which is a joke, considering it's a Google app on a Google phone... Go figure.

I beleive the Compass feature may be coming as the App "Spare parts" has this option but its not available in the map app we have now. Maybe the Next update which their is one out their according to atrackdog.
