Auto Wi-Fi App to Sync Email

I am new to the whole android scene and just got my G1 and love it so far.. Quick question though: I do not have a data plan therefore my emails are not constantly syncing and such. I was wondering if there is an application that would make my wifi turn on at a set time and for a set length of time in order to fetch and sync and then turn off. This would be very useful especially in the morning right before I wake up so that when I first pick up my G1 in the morning the new emails have been synced ......any thoughts please let me know

Is there a reason you don't just want to leave wifi on and connected while you are in a given connection? This would have the benefit of the mail client keeping in sync whenever you do you have a wifi connection available.

Well at night it would not make a difference if your phone is charging. There however is an app that does just what your talking about called Timeriffic by Cyrket. You can set up profiles which have set times that settings turn on/off, ringtones change, volumes change and so on. Here's the link so you can read up on it...
