Automatic response when sliding out hw keyboard?

Hey guys,

I'm wondering if there's a way to automatically open a new message when sliding out the hardware keyboard to make a fast response?
I can slide out the keyboard, type something and then share it via sms.. but that's not very efficient.
Or maybe a keyboard shortcut to open a new message, I don't know.
Maybe you've got some ideas!

Depends on your phone. For example my HTC G2 has 3 'hotkeys' on the HW keyboard that can be set to open any app. If you have no such keys maybe someone knows of an app that will set key combinations to do similar.

It really depends on the phone's available settings. I seem to remember that on one review, they said the Xperia Pro can allow you to set what action you want to happen when you slide out the keyboard when you are on homescreen.

I guess Tasker can do this.

Actually I do have the Xperia Pro. Do you mean there's already such a function onboard? At least I couldn't find an option.
I downloaded Tasker now, thanks for the tip!
I've already set a task to open the sms application when sliding out the keyboard.

But: I can't find a way to directly open the unread message AND when I add the requirement "unread text" it doesn't work anymore. Then it only happens when I get a message and the keyboard IS already out. Doesn't matter if I add unread text as status or event.
Maybe I'm doing something wrong?
But anyway, Tasker seems to be the way to go!
