Avant is Rebooting For Shits and Giggles

My avant (metro) is rebooting every two bloody minutes after I start up twitter, or download an app update or so much as touch the screen to log on. It freezes and will stay frozen for up to 15 minutes when I am scrolling a web page in Chrome. I can't reboot without pulling the battery. I don't know if it's possible for a system app to get corrupted ? I haven't downloaded any new apps in over 3 weeks and this all started sunday. Was there a system update that happened I wasn't aware of ? I get error messages like Touchwiz has crashed. Is it worth doing a factory reset ?

One other thing, I am not rooted. I'm a wimp. Never had the guts to try it. Just know I would brick it.

Breaking Update:

I believe that it is the SD Card that's been giving me all the grief. After I couldn't type in my login password - I pulled the sd card and lo and behold, the phone ticks over just fine. However, this will be the 3rd SD Card that this phone has chewed through. 2 x Samsung and 1 x Sandisk. Now ordering a new card. Because insanity.

It is fairly easy to brick, but it's extremely easy to fix if you have access to a PC...

Your SD card probably gets too hot and the slot is pretty much right next to the CPU, so the device probably restarts because of the CPU overheating... Mine gets really hot as well (up to 165° F sometimes, but then the CPU thermal control kicks in and it drops back down fairly rapidly), but haven't had any restarts like that...
I don't have any apps on the SD, though, and really only use it for backups, movies, music, and pictures...
