avatar upload problems

Why when I try to upload an avatar from photobucket/imageshack it says "Upload failed due to failure writing temporary file". The size of the file is only 18kb. I even downgraded it to 4kb and it's still doing the same thing.

If I try to upload directly from my computer it knocks it down to 80x80 yet the file size is still smaller than the prerequisite 19.5kb and the funny thing is I see people with larger and bigger avatars than mine.

I uploaded a new avatar about an hour ago with no problems... it was 320 x 320 and 36.3kb can you add the file to a post?

Thanks vido.ardes but it's doing the same thing. My image is 100x100 and the one in my avy is 80x80.

What error are you getting? Can you attach the pic to the post?

We made some adjustments to avatar permissions... if you can screen shot or camtasia what's happening it would be helpful. Apologies and hopefully we can get this worked out soon.

Not to be captain obvious, but you DID select the "use custom avatar" radio button before trying to save changes... right? Check that and I'll look into stuff on my end.

Try saving the file to your computer and then using the "Browse" and just adding it directly. Can you link me to the avatar you're trying to upload so I can try to replicate the error?

I just added it for you manually but I WAS able to duplicate the problem. Not exactly sure what is causing that, probably server CHMOD permissions... so thanks, I'm gonna look into it but for now is that the avatar you wanted?

FWIW, same problem here. My avatar is getting resized to 80x80 as you can see. Will you be able to let us know when it's finally fixed and if we need to re-upload?

I'm having this problem too! I thought I had successfully added an avatar, and subsequently lost it, but it turns out I added a profile picture.

I have tried repeatedly to add a .jpg - I re-sized it (kb and pixel) and kept getting a file upload error. I tried linking to the image on photobucket several different ways but kept getting error messages. I had zero problems with the profile picture - and it re-sized automatically!

Can someone help? Ideally, if someone could add the attached file to my avatar, I wouldn't be "faceless" anymore!

Phases, didn't something like this happen before? Where even if people uploaded their avatars correctly it gave a broken image link?
