Help avoiding unwanted screen lighting up?

Rob Henerey

Newbie
My phone lights up its display often when not called for. This is annoying at night in bed while listening to podcasts etc via the jack. It will light up, I'll turn off the display, and a minute later it will light up again. Sometimes it will stay dark/off for a couple of hours. I can't find anything in the settings to stop this behavior. The phone happens to be a Huawei Ascend/Elate running Android 7, on WiFi ONLY. Any ideas?

Lots of things turn on your screen. Incoming calls, incoming texts, notifications, power on etc
This sounds like an opportunity for a developer to create SCREEN OFF! An app that keeps your screen off unless you do a certain button combination. I'd pay a buck for that.

YES, THANKS. I must be getting senile, I just checked my Settings again and it says "Don't Notice Things" ON. :goofydroid: But seriously, it had "Do Not Disturb" OFF. So now that's ON and I'll see if that helps.
