B&N to Microsoft - take your Android fees and shove it they ain't working here no more!

It's about time somebody stands up to this extortion instead of just taking the easy way out and rolling over. (or bending over)

Someone needs a pay raise. :0

I think M$ and Apple need a to have a lawsuit over who has the right to be the lawsuit hungry bully.

I'm sure at least one of them have a patent on that

One of these days somebody is going to be granted a patent on the process of filing a lawsuit and then sue everybody who sues anybody.

I am going to patent... using paper material to wipe your ass.... I will be an instant Billionaire!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That would be right up there with the recent patent on making toast, called the Bread Refreshing Method - I am not making that one up.

The patent system is really that broken.

Bread refreshing method - Patent # 6080436 - PatentGenius

The only difference between that idea and a toaster is he specifies super-high temperature.

I don't know how others look at that, but I'm here to say muchachas and muchachos, I've traveled the world, I've had it in Europe, Asia, the inner city, on the farm and out here on the high desert mesa - from toasters, toaster ovens, stove tops, ovens, and campfires - and I'm pretty sure toast is toast.

First, don't now how I missed these threads.... sounds like another anti-trust lawsuit is in the works for microsoft... must be the whole 'netscape vs. IE' didn't teach 'em much...

Seriously thinking about making that my sig ;) :D

Haha, sounds like it went a bit like this:
MS: Hey, we have that patented!
BN: Wha..? You have what patented?
MS: Not telling!

I once ran across the patent for corn chips with rounded corners when I was doing a search for something else entirely... I just about peed right there.

Is this in advance of Windows 8? MS has made the statement that they can and will delete apps they don't approve of.
Microsoft has a kill-switch in Windows 8 app store - The Inquirer
Others have run the same.
I'm assuming they mean all W8 devices including PCs.

Which means if MS can't get the user to do what MS wants - they can delete. I'd like to know what this would mean to rooting since it's legal. And there were shells for Windows. I had one. You didn't see any of the usual crap including IE. Since I prefer other office suites, it didn't matter if IE was around or not.

I heard that about XP since it was the first OS you only rented.

Google has a kill switch for Android as well. I know they have used it a few times to delete malicious apps from peoples phones that got through into the Market.

If using a killswitch for bad apps is all Google does, that won't be too bad. But if it gets paternalistic, watch out! Apple has done that with a few apps.
