Looks more like superglue. Common practice in stores with live demo phones: glue the backs to the phone to make access difficult. Look at the outside of the back piece, do you see an imprint in the shape of a rectangle? You have a stolen phone.

The super glue might make sense. There is no mark on the outside so I don't know. I will go to a T-mobile store tomorrow and check. Thanks
