where is the back button on my samsung galaxy 3 using verizon

The Back button is to the RIGHT of the home button on the bottom. The button to the left opens a settings menu for whatever app you're in. Long-pressing the Home button accesses recent apps, which you can either keep active or swipe away to the left or right in order to turn them off.
