Grab this.

Force phone into "download mode", install program, open program, options -> upgrade recovery, wait, wait some more, wait some more, watch as phone gets stuck trying to boot up with Verizon logo, pull battery and disconnect from computer, plug battery back in and do a factory reset using the button method, cheer as phone reboots into ICS V8, take to VZW for warranty work if you really want to.

Alternatively, you could follow the slightly more complicated, but much more detailed instructions here: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/17823-flashing-lg-signed-firmware/

when in download mode and using that lg support tool it keeps telling me that my phone is not connected? i dont know what to do now???

Perhaps you have the USB in the wrong mode? I think you want to make sure it isn't in USB Mass Storage Only mode. Also if there is a setting, I think you want USB Debugging on (possibly in applications menu... don't remember where at the moment).

USB mode does not matter when you are already in "download mode". You are either missing the LG VZW Unified driver for the phone or the LG update tool is misbehaving. Try running the tool 2-3 more times and if it still gives you the same error message, then we will need to move on to different course of actions.
