Back up for xperia x10

I have recently purchased the xperia x10 & have just read that Sony plan to issue an update in a few months to put 'gingerbread' on it.

They have said that the 'back up & restore' on the xperia will be useless after the update, so there is no point using that to back up my phone.

Can anyone recommend a back up & restore app that would back up contacts/app etc please?

If you use Gmail, and you contacts are in your google account, they are already backed up to your gmail account. You can also go into the Contacts and save a backup file to your SD card. So, no other app is needed for this.

Apps can be backed up using most file managers, or something like Titanium backup might work for you. Though, if you aren't rooted, there will be limitations to what things you can backup.

I know Astro or ES file manager allow backups of apps you have downloaded.
