Help Backlight works but screen displays nothing

I've had this issue on my XZs since I first got it (from a site called DWI Digital Cameras which have now closed because of new GST regulations). Very often, when I try to wake it up, only the backlight would turn on and the screen would not display anything - it just black. The backlight also sometimes turns off and on again as if it were trying to get the rest of the screen to work (and sometimes, it eventually does work).
Usually a short-term fix would work where I would try and get it to open the camera app or if I rebooted the device. It's only been a minor to moderate annoyance up until now where no matter what I do, it won't go back to normal. It's been stuck for a whole day now. I'm sure it is not a problem to do with the screen itself as I have gotten it replaced and the problem still remained. I've also asked the same question on the XDA forums but they're usually no help when it comes to these sorts of things. This happens no matter what ROM I have installed.
Any suggestions on how to solve this? (baring in mind I can't do anything that requires the screen to be used)

Sounds very much like an intermittent hardware fault, perhaps with the LCD itself or its controller? Could even just be a bad connection somewhere? And that would be repair or replacement required. How competent are you with micro-electronic servicing?

I've said I got the screen replaced, but the problem still remains. So most likely nothing to do with the screen itself.

Could some other hardware fault then, like the main logic-board possibly? It doesn't sound like anything that could be fixed with just software or simply resetting it

That's what I'm thinking, but I don't have the experience nor the tools needed to tinker around with the logic board of a smartphone, so I really hope it isn't that, but it probably is something deep inside the device.
