do active applications running in the background eat alot of battery? Like when you open up the stock task manager and in the active applications section, do those apps eat up alot of the battery?

It depends if they're doing anything. Some are just kept in memory so that their states are retained and you can come and resume where you left off; these won't use any battery.

But others are performing tasks in the background, like downloading a file or something. These WILL use battery.

What about internet browsers running as active apps in the background. Do these consume battery or are they juat sat dormant for faster access?
