Rogers HTC Magic, android 1.5 with sense.
My accelerometer stopped working on my phone. I heard that a hard reset may fix it.... so I wanted to backup my phone before doing this hard reset.
I purchased mybackup pro hearing that this is the best backup. It appeared to back everything up including applications and settings.
Well I backed my phone up and did the hardware reset. I then restored my phone.
I expected my phone to be exactly like it was before I did the reset.
Couple of things I found that were odd:
1. To restore the apps I had to respond to a couple of button clicks each. Then sit and watch each app install, then move on to the next. I thought it would just restore all my apps.
2. Despite selecting all apps to backup, not all apps backed up. It appears not all apps showed up on the list of apps to backup.
3. I lost all my wifi wap keys and known networks.
4. I lost the wireless data APN that i manually entered.
5. Looks like some pictures did not restore (had them elsewhere luckily ).
6. The unlock screen and the default background were back to default.
7. My HTC mail email account settings did not restore.
My wife has an iPhone. She can get her phone back to the exact state it was in with iTunes. From what I have read the only way to do this is with nandroid and that requires root. WTF!!!!
By the way... my accelerometer still does not work!!!!! Must be hardware.
sounds like a simple thing. Backup my phone. Restore my phone.
what am I missing?
