Backup options for countries without paid apps access?

Can anyone recommend a Free backup app for backing up apps and settings to the SD card?

I am in Canada, and we STILL don't have access to paid apps.

I keep seeing people recommend "My Backup", but it is only a 30 day trial, which sucks because even if I wanted to buy it after the 30 days... I can't.

Thanks!

"AppManager" is able to copy apps to SD ... but I haven't yet figured out how to copy them back again. Also, I don't think it does Settings...

I just discovered that the "Astro File Manager" does a way better job of it. In the Menu, there's a "Tools" item, where you'll find "Application Manager / Backup". Try that, too.

You have 2 choices:

a) buy MyBackup Pro directly from their web site:
RerWare.com: G1 Android&#8482 Backup Utility

(no market needed, only google checkout and you will be able to download the .apk file.)

b) use market-enabler to fake t-mobile settings and get access to full market including paid applications

market-enabler - Project Hosting on Google Code

P.S. I'm from Canada too.
