I have sucessfully rooted my phone and now would like to remove the crapware. i know theres threads already, but how do i backup my rooted phone so i can proceed and if i make a mistake have something to fall back on

You can follow the steps here except for one part: How to: Create a Full Nandroid Backup on a DROID X | Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog
Rather then downloading Bootstrap for the DX make sure you get it for the D2.
