is there somthing going on in north suburbs of minneapolis? ive been having horrible service near my house , actually mostly just at my house or my other house 2miles away, even outside, for the last couple months. if im driving around anywhere i dont seem to have issues. ive had sprint (boost and virgin mobile) phones for a couple years and its never been this bad. specificly in brooklyn park MN

i can be outside on my deck with my lg optimus f3 or my GFs sumsung both newerish virgin mobile phones and pretty much will drop all calls within a minute of choppy voice conversation

Sprint is working on upgrading towers all around MN - their "Network Vision" upgrades. I'm a little further northwest (Elk River area) and spent most of the summer dealing with the same kind of issues. Things are mostly better for me now, but it can be really miserable waiting through the process.

From what I've heard this is pretty common when any carrier upgrades their network.

Hope the Brooklyn Park area is completed soon :)

Yeah they're doing it all along I-94 I used to live in coin rapids so I know the area pretty well. I get the same problem up here in Fargo north Dakota.. updates should be just about done by now I recon

Samsung the OEM responsible for Network Vision upgrades for the Minnesota market has completed about 80% of the towers in the Minneapolis area. There are about 7 towers in the Brooklyn Park area that have received 4G LTE upgrades and one tower at 85th Ave N. @ Golf View Ln. that has received 3G/800/4G LTE upgrade. This tower is now using the 800Mhz band for voice and 1x as well as 1900Mhz LTE/PCS. Most of the work in the Minneapolis area is now confined to the east end of Minneapolis area. Most of the upgrades are the cluster of towers in Como Regional Park/Interstate 94 east towards St. Paul.

There are about 22 towers/antennas that Samsung (OEM Network Vision vendor) has upgraded (3G ONLY) in the Fargo market. You should see better 3G speeds as of now (10-14-2013) there isn't 4G LTE being broadcast in the Fargo area.

gone from bad to worse... holy crap my phone wont even connect to the network for the last day, if they dont do somthing real fast there going to loose a customer (and half the people i know that live near me that use VM) we've all had crap service for a month+ and now i have no phone..

Griping and venting here on the forum is not going to affect, improve, or correct the service issues one slightest bit... You, your GF, and all the people you know that are having issues must report the problem to VM--so that they can notify, raise the levels of awareness and severity, and get Sprint to resolve the issues. Best way to contact VM CS, and report the problems, is through the Virgin Mobile Angels, by emailing them at SaveMe@TheVirginAngels.com

There are some indications of service issues about Minneapolis as shown at:

Current outages at Sprint | Down Detector

However, the level of severity shown does not seem to match the level you're expressing here thus far. Your gripes/vents here might be more effective if directed to the appropriate channels that can actually do something about fixing the problems. FYI.

I actually did call VM today, from my past expirence with vm India techs I thought some random person on here might know more lol I was told by VM support today my phone should work tomorrow by 1pm CST if I understood them correctly

The Angels are way more responsive and more effective in resolving issues. You're just wasting your time and breath by calling with no results...

Virgin Mobile doesn't have a clue where Network Vision upgrades are currently going on. Samsung has been flipping on a lot of 800Mhz 1x voice antennas in the Brooklyn Park area, what you could be experiencing is your phone attempting to connect to 800Mhz voice while they are still upgrading the towers. Have patience because when they have completed the upgrades you will see a difference in voice quality, few dropped calls, faster 3G, and of course 4G LTE which the LTE you should be picking up, LTE has been completed in about 80-85% of Minneapolis.

me and my lte phone and my gf 3g phone are still getting an unacceptable amount of dropped calls anywhere on our property in brooklyn park and its almost the end of nov.. it was not this bad a few months ago. phone works fine most other places.

we pretty much have to use a wifi calling app at my house or it will drop the call every time within a minute.. calls to landlines, others with gsm phones etc.. not sure how much longer we can put up with it before we leave vm

calling vm tech support is no use
