Basic authentication problems post cupcake?

I routinely use my g1's browser to connect to a website that is protected with basic authentication (so you get the popup for username and password).

Ever since updating to cupcake, my phone seems incapable or unwilling to correctly use / remember my passwords. It's driving me crazy, and I'm ready to chuck the thing out the window, or at least revert to the previous version.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

I have the exact same problem; after cupcake I am unable to acess basic auth protected sites without having to repeatedly enter username and password. My guess is that the browser is not properly storing the auth token, but I should capture the headers to be sure.

I had same issue and it made me visiting the website impossible. Fortunately for me, the site supports both HTTP and HTTPS. Accessing via HTTPS works perfectly OK.
