I'm thinking of buying a Chromecast for a 4.5 yr old to use with a new Nexus 7 tablet.

1. Do you think a 4.5 yr old who can already navigate the tablet will be able to use the Chromecast?
2. Can the current Chromecast mirror the screen of a Nexus 7?

Thanks.

My grandkids (a kindergardener and a 3 year old) are fine with it. The older one gets it, the 3 year old watches and knew immediately how swiping worked to navigate and the big triangle is play.

It won't stream your Nexus 7 screen at this time.

The Nexus can present the screen, but using a different protocol and targeted at different devices.

Google may yet blend the capability for both protocols into Chromecast - or it may hold that off for the upcoming Nexus TV.

I'd be betting on the latter.

No ETA on the Nexus TV yet.

This seemed like the most appropriate place to post this,so,here it goes:

Anyone here have a CHROMECAST & a TV w/GOOGLE TV baked-in?

Just curious,as I'm pretty much set on getting an LG w/GOOGLE TV:

LG 47GA6400: 47" Class Cinema 3D 1080p 120Hz LED TV with Google TV (46.9 inch diagonal) | LG USA

Just waiting on a refund from another mfgs set, shipped back out yesterday after all of 5 days use produced a dead pixel.(noticeable, even w/my less than eagle-eye vision) :(

Anyhoo......I was curious if CHROMECAST & GOOGLE TV offered separate options/benefits,or,if CHROMECAST would even be necessary w/this set.

THX! :)

My five year old is an expert in the chromecast. We have had it since the day it came out. I dont think it can mirror the screen of the nexus 7 though. Maybe I should ask him?lol
