Battery charge

My husband and I both have Droid 2's. I've noticed recently that when we switch batteries, the battery life changes. For example, when his battery is in his phone it will be at 40% but when I switch them and put it in my phone it will be at 90%. When I put a fully charged battery in his, it doesn't change. It remains at 100%. I was just wondering if anybody else has encountered this. If so, is it a harmless glitch or is an issue with either the phone or the battery?

Your batteries might have faulty sensors. Do the %'s correlate with how long they end up lasting? Or does 40% last a lot more in one phone than the other?
