Battery charging questions

I have a few questions regarding charging my Galaxy S6.
Is it still important, with lithium ion batteries, to wait till they're almost completely discharged before charging them?
Is the only benefit of using charger that ships with the phone, the adaptive charger, that it can charge the battery quickly? Any reason why I wouldn't want to use a generic USB charger? Does fast charging all the time shorten the life of the battery?
Is it a good idea to park the phone every nite on a wireless charger?

Thanx in advance for any info you folks can provid.

DONOT wait until your battery is nearly fully drained or drained, Lithium ion batteries don't like it. Aim to charge up from around 30% if possible. Topping up in small bursts is fine as is keeping it on charge once charged, and also using the phone while charging. The "fast charger" that comes with the phone is just (much) quicker, an ordinary charger is fine.

The only no no that does lessen the life of the battery is repeatedly draining the battery to 0% before recharging.

agree,

the manufacturers say to try and not drain them below about 40% for daily use.
Heeding that will give you nearly an unlimited lifespan from our current battery technology.

I have written a lot of battery care posts, wish I had just kept one of them to repost once in a while.

In short, IF the battery has been drained to less than 10%, do not try to recharge it all in one fast recharge.
Pay attention to the phone's temperature or just look at the current charge level and take it off charge at about 30% recharge, allow it to cool, then finish up the recharge....

batteries like to be kept cool, high temperaturs are harmful to them.

I use the Qi wireless chargers, and just throw the phone back on the Qi pad quite often.....
I try to keep my phones in the upper half of the range, not the bottom half.

This article goes into a lot of details about USB chargers, it's relatively lengthy but thorough. Some good stuff in the reader comments at the bottom too.

now that is Useful Information..... I have a bunch of Wall Warts, all of them OEM, and I am a technician who is constantly working on other folks' laptops..... Ever try to keep about 5 devices all charged up at the same time? You just can't get a long enough Extension cord sometimes.... I have the models with an ON/OFF switch and six outlets... and those Wall Warts manage to cover up 2 or 3 outlets all at once ......

I like the one just mentioned, it is oriented Sideways.... think I will just have to acquire that one.

:DThanx so much for the info -- I was still using the NiCd way of thinking. Most likely gonna pick up one of those wireless chargers and keep a couple of USB wall warts close at hand.
