Help Battery drains faster than charged?

Is the battery really this horrible? Basically whenever I'm doing a lot of searching and things that are running 4G (ex: I'll be using pandora, while texting, and searching pages on the web) and the charger will be in and it says its charging but the phone literally loses battery. Then When I just leave it alone to charge doing nothing it does the unbelievable slow charge we all know. So is it really draining faster than it can charge?

yup its true. Fastest way to charge is to turn it off and charge it. It's really bad, I'm going to buy the extended battery as soon as i can.

Yes as Insurgency said...turn your phone off to charge it. It will charge much much faster that way.

Hopefully the custom rom they are making will at least make the battery last longer, be able to zoom in on the camera " if possible ", more accurate GPS and so on!!

i just wish we had enough people to complain about the batter, they know the batter was horrible but yet they still kept it that way and sold the phone. Only when enough people complain will they get a solution with an apology (ex: iphone 4 death grip) but from a small number like us they dont care nothing to worry about -__-. I may be wrong but thats just my opinion.

The only reason Apple was forced to do something about the " Death Grip " of the Iphone 4 is because of the negative media publicity.

It's because there was actually tests will video showing how the signal dropped off when being held a certain way.

You are right though... if enough of us got together and complained, I am sure they would do something then.

Get a more powerful charger and you wont have as much of a problem. The battery charges at a rate of about 600ma and the phone uses at least 300 while dormant. If you are pushing the cpu to higher frequencies and using LTE then the phone itself draws nearly an amp.

My question is, why are you using LTE when charging anyways? If you are close to a wall outlet why not use Wifi? Wifi is far more energy friendly.

If you really want to go balls out with the phone I suggest a stable 5 volt 1.2amp+ power supply.

My meter cant be that badly calibrated, I saw around 900 draw.

If you're drawing that much, something may be wrong with your unit or you could have gotten lucky. The entire GS series draws 700ma for charging.

I wonder if the intelligence for maximum draw takes voltage into consideration. 5.3 volts at 700ma would be similar to 4.7 volts at 790ma. The crap chargers run well over 5 volts at low load and I've seen 4.5 under heavy draw.

I just got this phone and my battery is always draining when the phone is plugged in and on. Could my problem have been worsened because I failed to charge it completely before its first use?

the first day i had my phone the battery was pretty terrible but after i rooted it and installed the lte kill switch my battery is doing quite well.. it's on a day+ and counting without a charge lol

what do you mean rooted it and what is the lte kill switch/

To root your phone means to achieve complete control over it, bypassing a lot of the crap that Samsung have installed on it (at MetroPCS's behest). Rooting is to Android what Jailbreaking is to iPhone. There are a lot of cool and helpful apps that require root to run. Also, you can only make certain changes (removing bloatware, for example) if you are rooted.

LTE kill switch he is referring to is AnyCut shortcut. Basically, it allows you to turn on and off your LTE (4G) antenna, which will save you a lot of battery. More info in this thread:
