Battery heating up - won't hold charge

I've had my Proclaim for months with no problems - battery life has never been great - but recently it's started heating up and draining the battery within a couple of hours. Sometimes when charging I get an overheating warning and the phone shuts down. I've killed apps and that seems to help some, but the heating up never happened before. Purchased new OEM batteries and same thing is happening.
 
Until the last sentence I was going to say the battery has a short, but I'm guessing that the phone has a short. That would probably mean a replacement motherboard. Considering what labor costs, and what the Proclaim is worth today, I'd advise you to buy a new phone. (Even at $25 for the motherboard, if you can find one for that, it hardly pays to replace it.)
 
Thanks for the suggestions - it should be under the 1 year warranty - I've sent a service request, we'll see what happens. I'll try see about a rom update - not sure how to do that though
