battery killing apps

Battery life with new S5 was awesome UNTIL... installing New York Times app and activating Lookout. The two were each using 40+% of the battery. I removed both apps and battery life returns to awesomeness. I've seen a couple posts on other forums about Lookout possibly having a recent update that may cause this. Thoughts? Suggestions on settings? Thanks.

Lookout sends a lot of data back/forth ....

Install Battery Doctor, when your screen shuts off, it can/will kill off background apps.
You can program it do what you want

Some apps don't deserve to be on your phone, this is one reason why.
