I'm due for a upgrade and looking at the S5. I have the Razr Maxx nowand have great battery life. How does the S5 compare to the original Razr Maxx battery?
Thanks for any info.

No clue as to your phone.

but I am on my 3rd day with my S5 and light to moderate use.

Obviously it will depend on how much we have them turned on and surfing the internet.

I read the local and state news at least twice a day on mine, catch the Android Forums on the S5 and I monitor a motorcycle forum that I moderate.

Not too heavy on phone use as I am semi-retired and not looking for girls anymore :), the gal who hangs around here has known me now for 45 years and we have only drawn blood a few times. :D

Not into games so not much of that kind of activity... I have a lot of technical apps on it for my hobbies and finance.... that's about it.

I had the Razr Maxx mainly because of the battery life. Did not want to ever have to charge to make it through a day.

I decided to make the jump to the S5 and am very glad I did.

WAY better phone than Razr Maxx. On Razr Maxx I was at 50%-60% battery life at the end of the day. With the S5 I'm 60% or more left.

You can see I'm not a power user but the phones are comparable, with the S5 actually a bit better.

Don't let the battery hold you back.

Well, I am on my "4th day" if you will, but the phone came off the charger late in the evening and it is still lunch time for me here. The phone is showing 3D 19 hours and 37% still on the battery.

At lunch time, I hit Craigslist and did a lot of searching for stuff I want. Read the local newspaper, peaked at email.... and just now, did a screenshot.

I think you are going to find that the S5 will do anything you want and have lots of battery left at the end of the day. No matter how hard you use it.

Agreed that the S5 has better battery life than my old Razr Maxx. With the Maxx, I would plug in each night (making it through 1 day was good enough for me). With my S5, I'm plugging in every other night instead.

A little context on this guy's battery usage, he's what you might call a "battery Nazi" and I say that in all friendliness. Read his other posts, there's some great info in them, but know that he's getting these results by constraining his phone far more than I choose to.

I generally get through a normal day of usage with 60% remaining with relatively heavy usage. This phone has great battery life, no doubt about it. If you're willing to sacrifice some functionality/speed you can easily get three days usage if not 4.

I try to make it clear that "my way" most often will not be "your way".
Most of my posts state that I control my phone's data consumption manually and turn off data, sync, wifi, bluetooth when the phone is "asleep".

There has to be a trade off between what each of us wants, or needs, to leave on and running.

If having "instant updates" on your social networks, corporate needs, etc is part of your life, then the S5's battery use will reflect that need.

Even so, if everything is left on and the bad apps are controlled, it is easy to get a full day, if not two days use from the S5 battery.

I have a technical background and my life used to be controlled by pagers and instantaneous alerts. I choose not to be encumbered by those things anymore. 45 years of that is enough, I want to enjoy life now. I will check in when it pleases me, not because it is required by an outside world's desire to synchronize my phone with it or with any carrier's desire to do so.

. Please all, do enjoy your cellphone regardless of what make or model it is.

I also just upgraded from the Razr Maxx for the same reason I DIDN'T want to upgrade. On the first day I had 59% left at the end of the day, second day I ran down to zero before the day was out! Turned off bluetooth when I got out of the car disabled sHealth, on WiFi all day. Took it off charge at 100 at 7:00am now it's 3:00 same day and I'm at 35%. I disabled MS Exchange server as that used 40% on Monday. I am NOT a heavy user. No videos or tv, moderate email/twitter/internet during the day and of course some phone calls. (less than 500 minutes a month same for texts) What am I dong wrong? Everyone told me it would be comparable but so far, today is Wednesday I got it on Sunday) I know I must be missing something, what could it be?
Thanks all!
Joela

Edit to this post. After doing some reading and some experimenting I am now getting through a whole day with 50-60% left in the battery. This using it the way I had always used my Razr Maxx. I don't see turning all those things off then on, and monitoring connections to everything all the time. What I missed was the "power saving" toggle in the quick settings. Turned that on, disabled a lot of the built in bloat and was good to go. Btw, I did disable the Amazon App Suite, but not the Kindle app as I actually use that one from time to time. In any case, I am a happy S5 user now. Much better phone than the Droid, and I did LOVE my Droid. Also, I upgraded my wife from the S2 to the S4 and that is an even bigger difference. Once I get to show her some things she'll be cruising along too!
