Help Battery life vs. HTC Desire HD?

john_g

Android Enthusiast
Hi. I'm getting close to the next upgrade from my current HTC Desire HD. What I'm hoping is that someone here has upgraded from the Desire HD to the One X and can give me their impression of the relative battery lives. I have always carried a couple of spare batteries but with the One X that is no longer an option, so I'm hoping that people will say that it goes much longer between re-charges.

Many thanks,

John

I went from DHD and battery life is on a par, if not slightly better out of the box. Before going with a custom ROM, and medium/heavy use, I'd easily get a full day and charge at around 30%.

same here - not sure why - but with the Desire and HTC One X, the battery was terrible at first, running out somewhere in mid afternoon. Then after about a week, they both improved considerably. Regularly end the day at around 30%. 9pm now and reasonable use today, including taking photos and video's etc and now on 48%

I know you always use the phone more when you get it, but I was still using the one X heavily when the battery improved!

It does puzzle me though - as I understand it, battery memory etc is meaningless with Lithium Ion batteries.

yeah with the rest of the guys here, came from the DHD and battery life is defo better considering the specs of the phone. on idle is uses up practically nothing...till you play a game lol

standby battery life on the one x is ridiculously good. (for example I haven't used my phone this morning as have been busy at work and int he 4.5 hours its been off charge its not lost a single % battery).

Also when running my desire HD as a WiFi hotspot I could only get 3 hours at a push before It died.

I got 7 hours of constant use with my One X as a hotspot with 30% battery left.

Of course that's not saying you can't run it flat in no time if you try (think 3 hours of tegra 3 gaming with everything on and volume/brightness up full).

but yer the battery in my one x blows away the one in my old desire HD

I also came from Desire HD to One X. It's very difficult to give a definitive answer to the battery life question. It is like fuel consumption for a car, it varies significantly, depending on usage. If you use an app such as a game that causes all four cores of the processor to be heavily used, and screen brightness is high, then obviously the battery will run down quicker than usage that consumes lower current.

That said, if you are a heavy game user there is an alternative to carrying a mains charger . HTC External battery bank BB G400 is a 3000mAh battery that will work with any HTC phone. It retails for £40, but is worth it to me for peace of mind

i picked a 10,000 mAh one a while back. Can charge iPad and phone at the same time. Will charge the phone several times and an iPad just about twice. Had a 2000mAh one before - was useless

Each to their own. I find 3000mAh is usually sufficient for my needs .

Could I interest you in a car battery 70Ah (70,000 mAh ) ..... Only joking

I use both phones on a daily basis right now, one for work one for personal, and both are custom roms.

i get much better battery life from the HOX, and i mean almost double.

neither are overclocked., and dont get me wrong the dhd is great, and i get a day, but the HOX is just better IMHO

I think Im the only one that's the opposite... My One X barely makes it through the day where my Inspire would have about 25 - 30% by the end of the night.

That being said I have pretty much the same thing on both phones as far as apps other than widgetlocker which I havent installed on the HOX yet and ADW launcher....

With my inspire I left my wifi, Bluetooth, and syncing on all day... I'm doing the same with the HOX. But I'm going to give it another week or so because these batteries or at least HTC seems to get better with age which is reverse from what you would think...
