Battery life

hey guys. I'm about to buy my first android phone. and I'm stuck choosing between galaxy ace and the galaxy fit. why?

because I've read that galaxy ace's battery is below average and doesn't last for 1 day, compared to other devices. is it true?

gaming is great in the ace, but lags in the fit or so I've read.

please help me out.
 
If u really feel that the battery is low in this model then u can always buy another one for backup :) The ace is a good piece... and charging the piece for 6 hrs before using it first time enhances its performance... and i am sure that updates would clear this battery drain issue as the battery is pretty strong...

hey thanks. do you use samsung galaxy ace? I've also read that using juice defender and task killer can improve or lengthen the performance of the ace's battery. any thoughts on this?
 
Yes juice defender does help in ace's performance as it controls network activity... but u should avoid task killers in any android 2.2 device since background app gets killed only for a few seconds and restarts again automatically later... so its eats in more of system resources and also the batterry...

what about rooting? is it really needed?
 
I must try Juice defender, I've got the ACE and was worreid about the battery, but the girl in the shop pointed out that once you get an android phone, a lot of people play with it all the time! I constantly paly mine, so the batt goes everyday, but does last if I'm not peeing around on it constantly!
 
i have successfully updated my fone firmware via kies to kc1 on my samsung galaxy ace . now jus eagerly waiting for the gingerbread update

hi guys had the ace for about 1 month now, its very powerful & fast for a mid range smart phone. i had a iphone 4 but sent it back, double the line rental!

battery drain probs

ok the obvious 1st, just put the power control widget on home screen so u can turn off 3g,location,sync,background data etc with 1 click

the email client pushes without background data on which is great!
mine i set every hour.

low ram on the ace means that if u install alot of apps that send data in the background this will slow the phone down & drain battery!! this is a killer!

most apps are sending data of our phone calls, texts contacts etc
dont install too much on the phones memory it slows the phone alot!!

get an app called data widget this will kill the data with 1 click like the power control widget. this saves so much battery!

my ace lasts well over a day with very heavy use!!
email, games (emulators) surfing the net,browsing market, phone calls and txting all day.

also get the 1500mah battery from ebay or amazon
mine was from amazon just under
 
Battery life seems better. Ui seems smoother. Application added for downloads. Just seems a but quicker. I'm on vodafone don't know when it's coming on 02
 
Hey Guyz , I bought ACE just a week back and I have battery draining prob... I off my WIFI and sleep / Chk task manager and no services are running / I disabled the wallpaper I download // Still battery drains out .. I see Ebuddy icon in top left

Any suggestions ?

hi there check these apps out they will help you keep an eye on your phone & improve your battery significantly.

mysettings
nice app with an inbuilt battery meter. lets you switch most settings.
if you calibrate your battery correctly this will read battery level down to 1%.

hold down on home screen & go to widgets
1 click switches for
wifi
bluetooth
gps
background data/sync

You don't have to initially charge the phone for 8hrs nor drain the battery. Instead what you should do is when it reached 5% low battery you turn it off and charge it for 3-4 hours until fully charged. When turned you turned it on, turn off other settings like wifi/gps/3g/syncing/ apps when not in use. Reduce to zero brightness and use a more stable wall paper not those that have animations. it would last 3 days or so. I thought that the battery was defective at first so I went back to the store to have the battery replaced. It turns out that the phone is really heavy in consuming battery life so you have to make other changes in the settings. There are other threads found in this forum that would help you with those settings necessary to prolong battery life.
