Root battery life

what combination of ROM/Kernel are you guys getting the best battery life with? I have tried basically all of the ROMs and I can't seem to get more than 6 hours of heavy usage out of it. I had to carry a backup battery and if I am out for the whole day I can burn through the second battery as well.

I generally keep the phone in airplane mode if I am on the subway, and I disable data if I am not doing anything, plus I disable my sync so it's not constantly connecting, but I'll listen to music/podcasts for much of the day.

I use the current cm 10.1 builds with Yonix's kernel. With the extended battery and moderate usage im at 60% by like 10pm from 8am.

The phone i just got from the insurance company is a pile. I wake up at 630 and by 9am it will be around 60% with very minimal usage. As in checking the weather and maybe a text or two. Luckily i am getting a new one tomorrow.

My original spectrum i could make it to around 3pm on a good day down hill with the wind at my back using a music player. Normally have to do a full charge 3 times a day.

My favorite part about the phone is it has a max charge rate of 1 amp, yet mine will draw well over that doing standard things. So i still lose charge while being plugged in. i wish there was a way to have a higher charge rate that would throttle down when it starts to get hot.

brandonson, what battery did you end up going with? I am thinking of purchasing one.

In my experience some devices drain battery excessively in deep sleep while others don't. I have two p930 and one vs920. One of the p930 consistently drains 6%/hr in deep sleep but the other p930 and the vs920 drain 1%/hr. Nobody knows why and we can't find out without advanced hardware information. Sucks but that's the way it is.

I have two of the stock extended batteries. I use them for maybe a month on a month off rotating.

With CM10.1 RC5, stock kernel on heavy use it would drop battery pretty quick. When I flashed the tweaked CM kernel, battery drain dropped drastically. I think it is because of the lower voltages and less mA usage on the LCD brightness.

I think it has to do with either different manufacturing plants or different manufacturing dates. I got a replacement digitizer and LCD combo when my screen cracked.

Replacement LCD wouldn't work with my phone, but digitizer did.

This could also relate to why some bugs do not show up on some people's phones as hardware is slightly different.

Just got a day and 16 hours...not a ton of usage, a few calls, tune in radio for an hour, and web for an hour or so. Running rooted stock debloated ics rom, no juice defender, wi fi and auto sync turned off. I know everyone wants jb but ics imo is way more functional for me at least.

I've been getting excellent battery life with PAC RC1 & Yoinx's Enhanced init.d scripts (with V6 Supercharger built in). Currently, I'm running Yoinx's kernel, but battery life was about the same on the stock PAC kernel.

Yeah, tbh. I've noticed that my latest one (41) isn't getting much battery improvement. The one before it though seemed to help... Though maybe that's just my imagination.

I did tweak a few things from some other code bits I've seen around. I'm guessing it was some of the intellidemand governor changes that's killing me right now, since that's my governor of choice these last few days. It might be because I'm comparing it to badass, which is more of a battery saving governor.

How is gaming on ICS? I'm on beta 4 cm10.1 and it seems kind of laggy, like shadowgun dead zone

Sorry can't help ya there cause I'm not a gamer...the closest thing I can comment on is streaming movies and sports and there's been no issues with that.

I think thats html5...but sites like firstrow still use flash

Yeah Google stopped supporting flash in the last year or two.

Now they're recommending browsers stop supporting it on favour of html 5... I doubt they'd make a work around.
