Help Battery or charge probs?

Had the S3 since March and its been perfect in every way.

It has developed an.. issue.. i thought it was cos i did a charge through the laptop that it wasn't charging probably. after being on over night it still wouldnt on 100%. So i started using the mains charge.. after getting down to 30% last night i plugged it in.. full 8 hours charge and woke up to it still being on 74%..

Did a battery pull and its now made it up to 100%. So is my battery at fault or the charger? Or should i be doing a battery pull periodically..

This is my first android phone i'm an ex apple user so.. any advice is appreciated.

I should add i'm using a non samsung cable to extend the length of the charger cable cos its stupidly short
 
I would suspect a bad cable. The longer a cable is there will be loss. Try the the original cable and see if you have the same problem.
 
I have another issue with it. I've had mine since January and for some reason when I connect it to the charger, it doesnt want to charge. The little lightning bolt in the battery icon wont show up. Sometimes it even tells me it's connected to the charging dock when its not even connected to it. ( Sometimes it tells me that even when it's not connected to the charger or any cable. It randomly pops up.) Any feedback?
