Battery problems

According to my setting i am running 4.3, i am through Vodafone.
A couple of weeks back i felt the battery get unusually warm in my pocket. The phone then died a death, once home the phone charged up ok but ever since the battery drains a lot quicker.
I have heard that there was a problem with a recent update causing the battery to drain. It was around about Christmas time i had the last big update and had no problem with the battery, this problem just seems to have flared up.
Could it be a faulty battery or is it this update problem.

[FONT=Verdana, serif]This is not what you want to hear, but it is recommended with any major/minor OS update to do a factory reset to clear old files that are still left from the old OS. Like a clean install on a PC as opposed to a upgrade. I was having problems with mine till the Factory Reset.
Go to Settings/Back up and reset, then choose Factory data reset.[/FONT]
