Beautiful Widgest - Home clock now ugly?

I bought the beautiful widgets for the clock, I loved the look of the clock. Now after the last update, its uglier than hell. Its some digital looking thing. Is it possible to revert it back?

You had to have backed up the old version. If you want an app similar, try downloading Weather Widget - Donate. It has a clock just like Beautiful Widgets. It's $1.49 but it was worth it for me to go back to the old look. And I actually did back up Beautiful Widgets, but I like the fact that I'll at least be able to download updates with Weather Widget. Hopefully they won't receive a C&D letter as well.

I tried this out, and I like it. thanks so much for your suggestion. The forcast add on is quick and uber smooth, and almost matches the "cuteness" of the beautiful home.

BTW. there is a .apk of the old beautiful widgets floating around on the interwebs if you do a google search for it... just incase you dont want to pay for the other one

I like the new look. Maybe just cuz i got bored of the old one.

Same here. The "flip" didn't - not like the Home++ one does. It was nice enough but I rather like the new format, particularly the translucency. I agree that there ought to be some way to choose the type of clock display. Best bet is to comment on the Market or email the dev. The developer clearly states that this update is a change and also provides the customary screen shot so you'll know before you accept it. One should never blindly update.

I backed up the old one with Astro. I'm thinking about updating to the new one now just for a change. Any idea how to use the backup in case I regret updating?

Open ASTRO, Menu button > Tools > Application Manager / Backup. Click on "Backed Up Apps" at the top. Scroll down until you see "Beautiful Widgets", check it, then tap the "Install" button at the top. That's it.

I use Astro as well. Mount your Droid SD to your computer and copy the contents of the backups directory to a numbered directory on your computer (might even think about keeping CD copies). For instance, I keep weekly backups under a directory named Droid with subdirectories of the name of backups12192009 (for today). That way you can keep weekly snapshots and always restore from a "point in time".

To restore the old one, just mount your phone again and copy com.levelup.beautifulwidgets.apk back to your phone's backups/apps directory, overwriting the existing one. Unmount (the phone can't access the SD with it mounted) and open Astro and tap the Menu button and select Tools/Application Manager/Backup. Tap the Backed Up Apps tab at the top Tap the Beautiful Widgets checkmark then tap the Install button near the top. Once that's done you should be back to the previous version.

I like the new look. It looks more closely to the time shown in the lock screen so it follows the same theme. Besides, it looks a bit more manly. I uninstalled beautiful widgets before because it looked a bit girly. That's just my preference though. I fully understand the majority of the people who got it loved it.

I like the new look. As far as I'm concerned, I don't want anything that reminds me of HTC on my phone anymore. After they issued a cease and desist letter to the developer of BW, I thought that was a low blow. Yeah, the flip clock looks like the Sense flip clock, but it's sufficiently different in operation for HTC to let it go. The problem was that it was so popular and the developer was so good at updating it, that more and more people downloaded it. I'm assuming that Weather Widgets is next.

Either way, I like the new BW and with the devs faithfulness to update regularly, I prefer to continue to support him. I think it makes the DROID look more like... well, a DROID :) I have no plans on reverting back to the old flip-clock. IMO, it looks antiquated and old-fashioned. Flip-clock on a DROID... hahahahah!
