As SamuraiBigEd explained, we need this requirement in place to limit the unending assault by spammers and spam bots. The entire staff is extremely diligent about keeping the forums free from useless, offensive and possibly dangerous posts. After you've spent a little time here, you will come to appreciate the spam-free atmosphere that is not enjoyed on other forums.
