Root Behold 2 not seen by XP in download mode

I have searched for an answer, but have not been able to find a solution.

I am working on a Behold 2 that some else rooted and placed the Galaxy 1.5 ROM.
I am using XP SP3 and I have installed ADB and the Samsung Behold Drivers. The only way I can get the phone to be detected on XP is by plugging in the phone and booting it. Once it is up, it is detected as a mass storage device.
When I disable Mass Storage Only and have USB debuging Enabled, the XP system detects the phone and I can access it with ADB.

ODIN will see the phone in this point.

Thing is the ROM is very laggy, and I want to install a 1.6 ROM, but I cannot get XP to detect the phone in Download Mode, much less have ODIN detect it.

I hope someone can tell me know I can get XP and ODIN to see the phone when it is in Download Mode. In searching, I know that XP is supposed to see it as a new device when it is in this mode and install the drivers, but I have not gotten it to.

I have reinstalled the drivers several times and even used the drivers that came with ODIN 4.03

Any help would be appriciated.

You need to install the drivers while in download mode. Those are a seperate set of drivers and you needto install them.

I figured out the problem. It was the cable that I was using. I bought one from a cell phone place in my area, and the phone wouldn't register.

I bought another one from a computer store, and that did the trick.
I now can see it in download mode and with it booted up into the new rom.
