Best and Toughest Tablet for Money?

I am looking for a few tablets for testing.

The tablets will see rough treatment and exposed to environment, wet and salty kind.

Would appreciate any feedback.

They're still really expensive aren't they mike?

Boston Police have the laptop version in every vehicle. We had the so called handheld model at my job but it was clumsy to use, basically a thick touch screen tablet with a handle. Heavy too.

Oh yeh, Toughpads and Toughbooks can be expensive and heavy, and very difficult to break. I've used Toughbook laptops in the past. On the other hand we don't know the OP's budget and what exactly "wet and salty" actually means, like being used on the deck of a ship being washed with salty spray. :D ...I'm sure an ordinary consumer grade Samsung or Lenovo something wouldn't last too long.

I'm sure Cnet or TechCrunch or something has published review of things like this from time to time.

I need something tough and waterproof. Samsung Galaxy 8" is around US$200 before tax, but it won't last long without some sort of protective cover. Willing to pay a bit more.

otter guard case

sounds good. :)

Looking at them... the waterproof sleeves seem adequate, thanks :D

Actually that doesn't protect from rough handling...

Not the sleeve, the cases. It takes a really hard press to type but that screen protector that is part of the case is really, really thick. I haven't used one since the late 20th century but that case could withstand anything up to a bullet.

The case I used was screwed down.

Actually, u brought up an important point about "hand held".

Maybe these guys can use a velcro straps to wrap it around their arm?
