Best Android phones in comparison to iPhone

Hello everyone,

I currently have an iPhone 3GS and have had the two previous iterations of the iPhone so I'm quite used to its structure and OS by now, and I'm partially in the mind of switching.

Now, I obviously have ATT and I do not want to switch carriers for the time being, so I would like the phone to have original ATT support like the iPhone, but if it has a ridiculously expensive unlocked version (

If you have to stick with at&t, then you really have one choice, the at&t N1.
I have the tmobile version and I came from the iphone 3gs myself. I will NEVER look back to using the iphone now.
BUT I am curious to see what apple has installed at the WWDC. Even if they come out with the iphone 4g, so what? There's basically no AT&T 4g service right now. You will have to wait at least a year or two for the major cities to start getting some service. By then, who knows what others will offer?
One more thing about this wait and see idea. By the time the "iphone 4g" is announced, someone else will start some campaign on another new super phone and then will you wait and see again?

Yeah, I mean 4G as in "fourth-generation" not actually in comparison to ATT's wireless network.

Buy yeah, you like the N1 though.. Cool.

What are some of your favorite new features / things about the N1 that makes you like it more than the iPhone?

Also, a little worry, is there multi-touch support by now?

First off, you might not believe it but I actually get better 3g coverage in my area with t-mobile than att. I live in the NYC metro area. And last I read tmobile will be deploying their HSPA+ service here very soon (It states that it's speed is nearly as fast as 4g but we will not be charged anything extra!).
I won't get into the many reasons I think like the nexus one better because there are many threads on that topic. But I can tell you there are are some stuff that I think the iphone is better:
1. the screen (touch, multi touch, sensitivity) is definitely better than the n1
2. right now the apps on the android market are inferior to the app store from apple (but I see that is changing very quickly)

That's about it. I think the music player is suppose to better on the iphone but I don't really care cause I don't listen to music that much. I find the players for the n1 is good enough.

If you need to stay on AT&T then, currently, the AT&T Nexus One is your only choice. There are a couple other comparable phones coming out to AT&T-proper late summer into fall (Dell Thunder, etc.).

I have a T-Mobile N1. I used to use a combination of a dumbphone and an iPod Touch. (This worked because I'm in a WiFi area most of the time.) The ONLY significant function my N1 hasn't usurped from my Touch because of superiority is games. Even there, despite the lack of many good native games, Android has a killer emulator scene and the N1 has the horsepower to do it. A GBA emulator coupled with the Wii controller driver is better than a real GBA!

I still keep the Touch around for games and a couple remote-controller apps, but that's all I use it for anymore. And now with 2.2, I can tether it onto my N1's 3G if need-be. Best of both worlds.
