Best Buy will knock $100 of the price of a Galaxy S9 if you pre-order on Friday. The deal is for one day only, March 2nd, and here's the catch - it only applies to carrier models.

These prices aren't as bad as I thought they would be. Good on yah Samsung!

Still don't like the Infinity screen concept but I might come back.

Not much of a discount or subsidy then as these are locked carrier versions, subject to mandatory contract.

I know UK and in many EU countries locked phones supplied by carriers, are often sold with a low up-front cost, subject to two year contract, and are either subsidized by the carrier, or the phone is financed during the contract term. China and many other Asian countries, phones are never locked, and are usually pre-paid carriers. Many phones here are also dual-SIM, and so will sometimes be used with two carriers, one for work, one for domestic, etc. Of course there's never any real discount or carrier subsidies for phones here.
