Best cheap micro SD card

Hey, I just got myself a Samsung Galaxy S III (16gb version) and want more storage for movies and stuff. I want either a 32gb or a 64gb, no large preference. I think it would be really cool to get a XC card but dont want to pay the price (SanDisk 64gb Micro SDXC, $185 retail and $75 on eBay). So that leaves me with SDHC cards. I think it is best to get a class 10 card because they are more reliable and stable. The card I am leaning toward is the Samsung 32GB Class 10 SDXC card(eBay, $27).

Can I have some help deciding what card is the best for a person who wants a relatively cheap memory card for watching and recording video (32gb at least)?

Here are some others I found:

• SanDisk 32gb Class 6 SDHC, $31
• Kingston 32gb SDHC Class 10, $35
• PNY 32gb Class 10 SDHC, $43
• SanDisk 64gb SDXC Class 6, $75

I am mainly looking for a high performance micro SD card that can hold all my files. I am open to other suggestions but I am hoping you all will be able to tell me what you have and what I should spend my money (some cost more but I want one that is worth my hard earned cash). I personally use a SanDisk 64 gb class 10 but prior to that I used a 32 GB class 10 G-Skill that cost me $27 on NewEgg. I would be leary of cards on ebay because there are so many mis-marked fakes.

I too would be VERY wary of EBay cards. My preference would be for Kingston or SanDisk as the only cards I've had that had problems were PNY. Probably just unlucky, but that's my 2c's worth

I usually purchase them from tinydeal.com or ebay.

Sure there are a lot of fakes out there but it's 10-20 bucks you can't really loose. Personally I've never received a dodgy SD card (or a micro SD for the matter). You just have to be careful where you are buying from, if you are looking at something on ebay check the sellers feedback and see what others have said about his product. If the seller doesn't have much feedback then move on to the next possibility.

for 10-20 bucks extra you could get a legit card from a seller who isn't going to be involved in knock-off gear.

I certainly would check the functionality of the device as soon as I got it, I wouldn't just throw it in my phone and then go to my best mates wedding hoping it worked. You are likely to find most of the things like SD cards and electronic goods are made in the same factory it's just the name that sells them.

Buying something with a good name on it doesn't guarantee that it will be fault free, sure you might have something to fall back on if it is fault but that won't help if you lose data anyway.

I guess it comes down to personal preferences, I understand that people are cautious of their money, especially when it comes to buying electronics but I personally have no problem with buying no-named generic products if they are cheaper. By all means avoid it if you feel uncomfortable, but you never know, there might be a gold mine down there.

I just received this from Amazon.
Sandisk 32GB class 10 microSDHC.
Only set me back $23.99. Regular price was $100. Last I checked they still have some available although the price went up a tad to $30. Although for a solid brand like Sandisk, not to mention 32GB and class 10. You really can't find a better deal.

It won't matter if the card suddenly fails if you got cloud backup. But honestly I'd still prefer retail stores. Anyway, try to see if there's anything from TDK. They are usually half the price of Sandisk on retail and they are a legit Jap company making flash memory.

I have been told and read that really the higher speed card's are designed for capturing HD Video and Raw Images. Unless you plan to use your phone in that manner then a class 4 would most likely do everything you want at a cheaper price point.

I do have a class 10 64gig card in my tablet that was only because the class 6 was 3 or 4 dollars more. I have a class 4 32gig card in my cell phone cant really tell a difference speed wise other then when transferring files to and from the devices.

The class of an SD card relates to it's read/write speed. Contrary to perceived opinion in your phone it makes absolutely no difference. It only makes a difference copying large files to and from it from a PC.

I currently have a Samsung 32 Gig Samsung class 10 card in my SGS2 and have had no problems with it what so ever. I wouldn't trust a Kingston card as I've had two corrupt on me in the past, a SanDisk 8 Gig class 2 card now four years old is still going strong in my secondary phone. This takes site photos for work and is plugged in a USB port daily to cut and paste from the card. So I can thoroughly recommend SanDisk.

Thank you for mentioning this. I was just making my way through the posts & I was once going to once again explain what the class on a card actually meant. I have decided some people just like to waste their money. Now if you fully understand it & that is your choice... buy me something too. Lol. If you are just buying a higher class card because you think it a. Is a better deal b. Has magical qualities c. You aren't sure but everyone else is doing it d. You can't tell me how many sizes of cards & what they are called e. You don't know what the little "slider" on the side is for.... Go learn something & stop making posts about something you don't understand. (not referring to the OP here, just in general)
