Best free antivirus/security software?

What do others recommend for free Android security programs, and why? I have had a good experience with Lookout, but I don't think the free version can wipe your phone if stolen. Looks like the free Avira can do that. Are there other programs besides those two that are really good?

Install Common Sense and use it at all times. Do not install software from sketchy sites or cracked software. Install software only from the Play Store and maybe Amazon. In Security settings do not enable installation from unknown sources. Follow these rules and you will be safe. There is no need for antivirus on Android.

For locating a lost phone and remotely locking or wiping open the Google Settings app in the app drawer and enable Android Device Manager.

what about clean master?

clean your cookies. in addition it helps to scan the phone for potential threats

I have AVG installed on all my phones and tablets, and I like it.

Clean Master is unnecessary and can even be counterproductive. I never use any cleaners, task killers, RAM managers/optimizers, antivirus - none of that stuff is worthwhile.

Two of those are from China. And TBF I wouldn't trust any free security software coming from the PRC as far as I could spit out a rat!
